What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment is a form of amusement. It is a broad and flexible concept that can be adapted to any scale, from an individual who chooses a personal entertainment at home from a large variety of pre-recorded products; to a dinner party accompanied by appropriate music or dance; to performances for thousands. The word entertainment is derived from the medieval Latin intertenere, which in turn derives from the Indo-European root ten. The prefix inter means “inside” and the suffix ten means to hold or stretch out, and thus the word is aptly suited to describe entertainment, which often touches on subjects such as social backstabbing and murders- themes that humans were evolved to deeply react to in order to function in societies where these activities are commonplace.
