The Daily News Is Moving Downtown
The Daily News is a New York daily newspaper that is based in Jersey City, NJ. It was founded in 1919 by Joseph Medill Patterson as the Illustrated Daily News. It was the first daily in the United States to be printed in tabloid format, and reached a peak circulation of 2.4 million copies a day by 1947.
History of the Daily News

Its move downtown in 2011
For 15 years, the Daily News has reported news from its West 33rd Street headquarters, but now it’s moving downtown. The paper is moving to a new building with the U.S. News & World Report Media Group, and will occupy two floors at 4 New York Plaza starting July 2011. Until now, the newspaper has remained in its West Side building.
Its sale to Tronc in 2017
The deal involved the sale of The Daily News and its printing plant in Jersey City to Tronc. In return for the sale, Tronc will assume all operations and obligations of The News, including its pension liabilities. The deal also includes a 49.9 percent stake in a 25-acre property that overlooks Manhattan. Tronc declined to say how many jobs the new owners will eliminate at the paper.
Its digital edition
