Creating Business Services in SL1

A business service is an intangible offering that supports a company’s core operations and productivity. It may be a physical product, like a haircut or massage, or it could be a digital product, such as a website or an app. Business services help companies to access specialized expertise and innovation, enhance their competitiveness, and meet the demands of their customers.

Business services are important to businesses because they support core operations, increase employee productivity, and allow companies to focus on their customers’ needs. Businesses can outsource business services to external providers or use in-house resources. Regardless of how the business service is delivered, it must be dependable and available when needed.

The five characteristics of a business service are availability, reusability, responsiveness, security and efficiency. Businesses need to ensure that their business services are accessible at all times, reusable for future use, scalable, secure and cost-effective. These services can be delivered in various ways, including over the Internet, through cloud computing, over the telephone or in person. The key is to identify what business services are most critical and deliver them in a way that maximizes efficiency.

In SL1, you can create a business service by clicking the New Business Service button and then following the prompts. Name: Enter a name that defines the business service. Team (Only available on the Business, Enterprise for Incident Management and Digital Operations (Legacy) plans): Select a team to associate with this business service.
