Classifications of Automobiles

Automobiles are vehicles that are powered by an engine to move forward. After World War II, automobiles continued to evolve rapidly. However, the pace of innovation began to slow down in the 1960s. This was due to a combination of factors, including market saturation and the development of other technologies such as electronic computers.

In the United States, the major automobile companies included Nash, Hudson, Studebaker, and Packard. Most of these companies were wiped out during the Great Depression, while others faded away in the 1950s.

Another way that automobiles are classified is by the type of transmission they have. For example, some have manual transmission, while others have automatic transmission. The transmission system of an automobile can also be front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, or all-wheel drive.
